AVIRT Training for the Industries We Serve

AVIRT — Active Violence Immediate Response Training — is the current HSI-standard program (replacing AVERT as of August 2025) tailored to the specific risks, layouts, and regulatory requirements of your industry.

From construction job sites to healthcare facilities, schools to oil fields, our military-trained instructors deliver hands-on, scenario-based active violence training at your location — across Texas and surrounding states.

What is AVIRT and why does it matter for your industry?

AVIRT (Active Violence Immediate Response Training) replaced the former AVERT program as the official HSI standard in August 2025. Unlike passive awareness videos or generic run-hide-fight presentations, AVIRT is hands-on and scenario-based — preparing employees to take immediate, coordinated action in the critical minutes before law enforcement arrives.

Every industry faces different active violence risks. A retail store has different vulnerabilities than a hospital or an oil field. AVIRT's industry-specific approach means your team trains in scenarios that reflect your actual environment, workforce, access points, and regulatory requirements.

Why industry-specific AVIRT training matters

🏭

Operational Realities

A factory floor is not a school — and a hospital is not a construction site. Our scenarios reflect your actual environment: machinery, layouts, staffing patterns, access points, and industry-specific hazards.

👥

Workforce Dynamics

Shift workers, public-facing staff, contractors, students — each industry has unique personnel structures that directly affect how an active violence response must be organized and executed.

📋

Regulatory Alignment

We map AVIRT to your industry's specific requirements: OSHA 10, OSHA 30, JCAHO for healthcare, Clery Act for higher education, and applicable state mandates.

Frequently asked questions about industry AVIRT training

What is AVIRT training and how is it different from active shooter drills?
AVIRT (Active Violence Immediate Response Training) is the current HSI-standard program that replaced AVERT in August 2025. Unlike passive active shooter awareness training or basic run-hide-fight videos, AVIRT is hands-on and scenario-based — covering immediate response, medical care (Stop the Bleed, tourniquet application), multi-team coordination, and recovery. Every session is delivered on-site and customized to your specific industry environment. Read the full AVIRT explanation →
How do you customize AVIRT for different industries?
We start with a pre-training site assessment to understand your industry-specific risks, floor plans, workforce structure, and regulatory requirements. We then build scenarios around your actual environment — whether that's a school, factory floor, hospital, or oil field. No generic templates. Call (870) 532-8278 to schedule an assessment.
What is the duration of industry-specific AVIRT training?
Initial AVIRT training typically runs 4-6 hours, including instructor-led instruction and hands-on scenario drills. Refresher sessions are 2-3 hours. We also offer multi-phase programs for larger organizations that need to train multiple shifts or departments.
Does AVIRT training satisfy OSHA requirements?
AVIRT complements OSHA's required emergency action plans and integrates with OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 training. For industry-specific mandates (JCAHO for healthcare, Clery Act for universities), we align training documentation accordingly.
Do you offer AVIRT for small businesses?
Yes — we train organizations of every size, from small businesses with 5-10 employees to large multi-site enterprises. All training is delivered on-site at your location. Contact us at (870) 532-8278 or info@safetyisamindset.com for a custom quote.
